The III generation, the basis for economical compressed air production
The Know-How
More than decades of know-how in manufacturing for the compressed air market. World wide knowledge in different compressed air applications have guided the development of customer specified stationary screw compressors.
Technical Advancement for your Benefit
The advantage of CROWNWELL lies in its simplified construction. Fewer components are utilized. This means a 60% reduction in main and wearing parts and over 70% fewer pipes and connections. In turn, this greatly reduces the risk of leakages, making the system environmentally friendly. Safe direct drive operation without V-belt transmission.
The CROWNWELL Screw Compressor works in the following way:
Ambient air is drawn through the intake filter and the multifunctional control system into the screw compressor block. This block consists of a pair of screw rotors. The Crownwell main rotor, driven by an electric motor, takes the secondary rotor with it. The air is drawn in by the rotation of both of the interlocking rotors and is continually compressed. During rotation, coolant is injected into the rotors and forms a hydrostatic film between the main and secondary rotors. The function of the coolant is to seal the rotors, lubricate the bearings and adsorb the compression heat. Before compressed air leaves the compressor ( at 80 ℃ approx.) it is separated from the coolant before being cooled in the aftercooler to approx.. 8℃ to 12℃ above the ambient temperature. The coolant then passes to the thermostatic control block and filter, before entering the cooler where it is cooled from approx.. 80℃ down to 50℃. It is then injected back into the screw compressor block.

Your benefits
The CROWNWELL Screw compressor block
With coolant injection. Technically advanced, performance optimized profile from the quality assured production facility of our top screw. Highest degrees of precision are maintained throughout rotor production, by grinding and not milling; this ensures that each individual rotor is compatible with every mating rotor. Further, the generously dimensioned combination of cylindrical roller bearings for radial support and four point bearings for axial support is a guarantee of the longest possible service life. Additional safety is built into the heavy duty casing which is designed for pressures up to 15 bar.
Your benefit:
High efficiency
Low power expenses
Low off load expenses
Long life time of the screw compressor block
Long life time of the bearings
Low service expenses
Safety Separation System
with five stage pre-separation and the dry sump which acts as a second separator in series:
Your benefit:
Prevents coolant breakthrough
Guarantees a constant residual coolant content in each operating phase of only 1-3 mg/m3
Ensures the longest service life of the separator cartridge.
Guarantees the lowest internal pressure losses (0.05 bar) by the large internal cross-sectional area.
The horizontal mounting of the pre-separation vessel allows for a large capacity of coolant which results in maximum separation, prevents build up of scum and premature oxidation, even during intermittent operation.
Low waste disposal expenses
High production reliability
Maintenance free multifunctional Intake Regulator System
Your benefit:
Increases the life span of the screw compressor block by compensating the high compression ratio and thus the axial thrust spike at every change of load/full load/stop.
Eliminates maintenance and repair works as well as potential leakage points since it replaces all conventional fittings that are susceptible to failure and abrasion, such as:
Reducing damper (or butterfly valve) with regulating cylinder
Non-return valve after the screw compressor block
Oil stop valve
Blow down valve as well as all associated connections, gaskets, washers and pipework.
Operationally and intrinsically safe. Seals hermetically in the case of power failure. Unwelcome oil leakages are no longer possible.
Lowest maintenance costs
